Terms of use

The rules for using World Respawn, in plain English. By making an account, or letting your child use the app, you agree to them.

Last updated 30 October 2026

The short version

  • The app makes an account for each device by itself. Keep its 16-digit save code safe: anyone who has it can open the account’s Worlds, and it is the only way back to them.
  • What your children make stays theirs. There is no sharing, so it is only seen by whoever uses the device or the save code.
  • The service is free for now. If that changes, we will say so on the pricing page first.
  • You can leave, and delete everything, at any time from the Save code screen.

Who we are, and what this covers

These terms are between you and [COMPANY NAME] (“we”). They cover this website and the World Respawn app (“the service”). Please read them together with our privacy notice, which explains what we do with information.

Your account

Parent accounts are switched off for now. The app makes an account for each device by itself, with no name or email address, and a 16-digit save code to open it on another device. The code is the account’s key: keep it to the people it is meant for, and tell us if you think someone else has it (you can make a new code on the Save code screen, which stops the old one working). The points below apply to families who already have a parent account.

  • A parent or legal guardian makes the account. You must be 18 or over.
  • Use an email address you can read, because that’s how you log in, and keep access to it to yourself.
  • Your children use the service through profiles on your account. You’re responsible for what happens on your account and for how your children use it. Keep sign-in codes and share links for the people they’re meant for.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.

Subscriptions and payment

The service is free for now, and nobody can start a subscription. The rest of this section describes how a subscription works for families who already have one, and for any plan we offer later, which we would announce on the pricing page first.

The price, and what it covers, is on the pricing page and is shown again, with any tax, before you pay. A subscription covers the number of children you chose, and runs for a year or a month, whichever you picked.

What is free
You can use part of the service without paying. Anyone can play the first lesson in a browser with no account, and the game they make is kept in that browser. A parent account keeps it, opens it on any device, and gives a child one World of their own, which they can play and change. Making more Worlds, asking to show a game to someone you approve, and having more than one child on the account are part of the subscription. When a child reaches one of them, the app asks them to hand the screen to a grown-up, and nothing is bought until a parent or guardian starts a free trial. What is free and what is part of the subscription can change as the service grows (see Keeping the service running).
The free trial
Your family’s first subscription starts with a free trial of 7 days. Only you can start it, from your own account: a child’s profile can’t. You add a way to pay to start it, a card or Apple Pay or Google Pay where your device offers them, but nothing is charged during the trial. We’ll email you before the trial ends. If you don’t cancel before it ends, the subscription begins and you are charged the price shown. If you subscribe again later, there’s no second trial: the subscription starts straight away, and the price shown is charged when you subscribe.
Renewal
After that it renews automatically at the end of each year or month, until you cancel, at the price then shown. If the price is going to change, we’ll tell you before your next renewal.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account page in the app. Cancelling during a trial means you’re never charged. Cancelling later stops the next renewal, and you keep what you’ve paid for until the end of the period.
Refunds
If you forget to cancel a trial you never used, email us and we’ll refund you. If you think you’ve been charged wrongly in any other way, write to us and we’ll look into it. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.
Paying
Payments are taken by Stripe, by card or, where your device offers them, with Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see or keep your card number or wallet details. If a payment fails, we’ll tell you, and you’ll have a short time to put it right before the subscription ends.
If a subscription ends
Every World your family made stays in your account, and your children can still play and change all of them. Making new Worlds, asking to show a game to someone, and adding more children wait until you subscribe again. You can still log in to look at, or erase, everything your family has made.

What your family makes

  • What your children make belongs to them, and to you on their behalf. We don’t take ownership of it.
  • You give us permission to store it, back it up, and show it back to you and to the people you choose to share it with, so that the service can work. We won’t use it to advertise, and we won’t show it publicly without your written permission.
  • If we’d like to show a game on this website, we’ll ask you first, in writing, and a person will check it before it goes up. We’d show a first name and an age, and never a surname, photo, school or location. You can say no, and you can change your mind later.
  • You’re responsible for what is in your children’s games. Please keep anyone’s personal details out of them, and don’t make anything unlawful or anything that would upset other people.

Sharing a game

Sharing is switched off for now: there are no links and no way to send a game. What follows describes it for links already made, which stop working after 30 days.

A child can ask to show a game to someone. Nothing is shared until you say yes. A share link lets one person play the game as it was when you approved it. They can’t change it, see who made it, or reply. It stops working after 30 days, or sooner if you stop it. Anyone who has the link can play, so send it only to the person you meant it for.

Using the service properly

Please don’t try to get into anyone else’s account, try to break, overload or probe the service, copy or resell it, or use it for anything unlawful. If you do, we may suspend or end your account, and we’ll tell you why when we can.

The service’s software, design and artwork belong to us or to the people who let us use them. You’re free to use it to make and play games. That doesn’t include copying it for other uses.

Keeping the service running

We work to keep World Respawn available, but we can’t promise it will never be down or free of faults. Parts of it keep working without a connection; signing in, saving and the parent area need one. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever close the service, we’ll give you notice first.

Ending things

You can stop at any time: cancel your subscription, erase a child, or erase your account, all from the app. A device account can be deleted from the Save code screen, which erases every World in it. We may suspend or end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. When an account is erased, the privacy notice says what happens to the information.

Our responsibility

We’ll look after the service with reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen, or for things outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we’ll email you before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you don’t agree to it. The date at the top shows the latest version.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW]. If you live somewhere else, you keep the protection your own country’s consumer law gives you. If something goes wrong, please write to us first.
