Learn it with them, or after them.
You don’t need to have made a game before. Your child shows the way, and you get to play.
Four things to try
- Play the first lesson yourself
- It is free and needs no account, and it is the same lesson your child plays. Spark shows you where to tap, and you can skip or stop whenever you like.
- Let them show you around
- Ask your child what a rule card does, or why they picked that look. They will have the answer, and you will have a way into the game.
- Be the first playtester
- When they say play my game, take the tablet and play it all the way through. Tell them what you found: the bit you liked, the spot where you got stuck.
- Ask for one change
- Hand the game back with one thing you would like different. Changing a rule card and pressing play again takes a couple of taps.
Beside them, not on guard
There is no chat and nobody else in here, so there is nobody to keep an eye out for, and you don’t need to understand the editor to let them use it. Sit beside them because it is fun.
